Selling or applying for a Yolo Liquor License is complicated and can take as long as 4 months. More often than not, this is the last thing that a business owner would want to hear. Running a business without any distractions is already stressful enough. Unfortunately, obtaining a license is one of the most important tasks a business owner should do.

The Yolo Liquor License is issued by the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC). The department needs business owners to follow certain rules and regulations in obtaining a Yolo Liquor License. It may seem like a real hassle to learn all the legalities regarding the application, but it will save you a valuable amount of time and money if you are well-versed in this transaction. It is also imperative to know the type of permit you must apply for since permits vary on different types of businesses. For example, some licenses require no less than half of your income to originate from food sales. Other Yolo Liquor Licenses are designated for only selling closed containers to be consumed off the premises.

Our agency is NALCP-certified and we have more than 10 years of experience in the hospitality industry. We are also 30% cheaper than our competition which is a big advantage to our clients. Type 20 & 21 Liquor
License

Both Type 20 and Type 21 licenses are designated for the sale of alcohol for off-premises consumption. Minors are allowed on the premises of businesses that are issued this type of license. The Type 20 license is issued for the sale of packaged beer and wine, while the Type 21 is designated for the sale of general packaged alcohol, including spirits and liquor.

Type 41 & 47 Liquor
License

Probably some of the most common types of liquor licenses, the Type 41 and Type 47 licenses are specifically designated for businesses that primarily serve food. The California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control states that, in order to be issued a Type 41 or Type 47 license, your facility must be a “bona fide eating place.” 51% of the total sales should come from food.

Type 48 Liquor
License

Type 48 licenses differ from Type 41 and Type 47 licenses as they are used in establishments that are not primarily eateries. Type 48 Licenses are typically issued for bars and nightclubs. The Type 48 license permits the holder to serve liquor until 2:00 AM. Unique to this license, the Type 48 allows closed containers of beer or wine to be sold for “off-premises” consumption.

Yolo County Liquor License Facts

The Yolo liquor licensing process is a requirement for all business owners but it is also definitely proven to be a long one. Since the whole transaction can take up to 4 months, it’s important to be aware of the different circumstances that can happen. The ABC will, at times, not issue you a permit because the county that you are applying for is already oversaturated with licenses. When this happens, the only way you get your hands on a Yolo Liquor License is to buy it from the open market.

But if you do go through with getting a license with the ABC, the department will review your application within 30 days of submission. Fees may vary from $30 up to $1200 from county to county. But regardless of whether you intend to obtain your Yolo Liquor License from the ABC or from the open market, we at Liquor License Agents can help you through the entire process.
